INUP Training - Level 1: Familiarization Workshop/ BASIC TRAINING PROGRAM
Objective: To introduce nanofabrication technologies and applications
Participants: Research Students (Ph.D.) and Faculty Members
Cost to Participants: NIL (TA, Accommodation provided by INUP)
Mode of Registration: Registration form requiring a Poster submission
Programme: 2-3 days, with 10-12 lectures
Theme: Basics of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, emphasizing fabrication: CMOS processes/scaling, MEMS, Sensors, Nanomaterials/Phenomena, Microfluidics, IPR, Characterization techniques, RF-MEMS, Photovoltaics
Features:
- Detailed tour of the Clean-room and the Characterization Facility
- Motivation/Evaluation of participants through a Quiz on each lecture
- Interaction between Participants and Faculty to provide "feel" for research
- Poster display attended by faculty and technical staff, who provide valuable feedback to participants, enabling them to prepare their proposals better
- Gathering written feedback from EACH Participant, so as to improve the INUP

INUP Training - Level 2: Hands-On Training/ ADVANCED TRAINING PROGRAM
Objective: To provide training in device fabrication in Clean Rooms
Level of Participants: Research Students / Faculty
Cost to Participants: NIL (TA, Accommodation provided by INUP)
Mode of Registration: Registration form with Research Proposal
Programme: 8-10 days Hands-on Training/ Advanced Training Program
Training Modules on: MOS capacitor(Nanoelectronics), MEMS Cantilever, Solar Cell(Photovoltaics), Gas Sensors
No. of Participants in one module: 5-6 participants per module
Features:
- Training on Clean Room Protocols followed by a quiz
- Detailed training in clean room in device fabrication, followed by training in the Characterization lab on different instruments
- Final device is characterized and given to the participants as memento
- Pre-Workshop submission of proposal PPT for review & refinement by technologists
- Presentation of Proposals by Participants to IISc Faculty – Review/Suggestions/Amendments so that a "refined" Proposal is submitted after One-to-One Participant-faculty interaction
- Rigorous Feedback from participants for improvement
- Preparation & submission of report on training received

INUP Training - Level 3: Execution of Research Projects
Submission of proposals through website (capability of facilities to be checked before proposal submission)
Can be short-term or medium-term
Based on technical merit and feasibility, the proposal is approved and authors of successful proposals are invited to visit IISc for Project execution
INUP arranges for "proposal refinement" and mentoring by IISc Faculty and provides all necessary facilities for experimental research as a part of their Ph.D. theses.
